Christiana and Stephen are getting married this winter and wanted a spring session in mountains. After a little dissapointment of longer seasonal closures in Kananaskis area this year, we decided to take an advantage of unique color of Lake Minnewanka in Banff. The lake was still covered under thin crust of ice and in combination with summer weather it made beautiful backgrounds! They brought their corgi Winnie to their session, and now we might want to get one too 🙂
Read below their love story and what they say about their experience.
How did you meet and fall in love?
Stephen and I met at university here in Calgary in 2013. We both lived in residence and happened to be apart of a student leadership group, where we were both student reps for our individual floors and planned events to bring everyone together for fun. He joined the group after the start of the school year so he had missed all the fall training but I do remember watching him walk into one of our meetings one night and thinking wow that is one handsome fellow.
There was an instant attraction when we first met but naturally there was a hint of uncertainty (“does he like me?“, “does he like my friend?”). Our conversations flowed and I had never felt more comfortable with someone before.
I can’t speak to a specific moment or quality that made me think he was the one, but it was just that gradual build up of feelings the more time spent together. Stephen as a whole just fits so well with me and I love every part of who he is. I remember that overwhelming feeling once I knew he was the one (and of course I waited for him to say it first) and the moment we said “I love you” the first time was incredible. It’s hard to put into words but everything felt just right. People don’t lie when they say you’ll know when you know.
You mentioned you had never had photos taken. How did you enjoy the session and what was your favorite part?
Neither of us particularly enjoy taking pictures of ourselves and so we were really nervous. The entire session was so amazing because while we knew and saw both Oscar and you, it felt so intimate- like we were alone surrounded by the mountains the entire time. You made us feel incredibly comfortable and we had lots of great laughs throughout the evening. The best part was being able to spend time with each other (and Winnie of course) in the beautiful surroundings and to keep re-living those moments in the photographs you two took. It was so special ❤
