This sunset engagement session at Barrier Lake in Kananaskis is filled with love and laugh.
Kjellby proposed to Natasha on the top of Sulfur mountain in Banff, on one beautiful summer snowy day 🙂 Well, you know the weather in Alberta is unpredictable right? So no surprise it wass snowing in June.
They both love adventures and mountains, so it made sense doing engagement photos in Kananaskis. Luckily, this time we had beautiful warm day and dramatic sunset.
How did you meet and fell in love?
Kjellby and I met at the Calgary Co-op grocery store (where I worked). At the time I was a cashier. He would often come through my till, and we would flirt and make small talk. One day (finally!) he decided he would ask me out. I was under the impression he was trying to sell me concert tickets when he was actually asking me to go with him to a concert (Eric Church concert). I basically made a big fool out of myself, blubbering on about how much the tickets would cost, and how many he had for sale. Needless to say, it was a little embarrassing. I gave him my phone number and told him we would discuss it after my shift. He then clarified in a text message, that it would be a date, and I wouldn’t have to worry about purchasing the tickets.
We fell in love very quickly and very hard. I moved in with him after only 4 months of dating, and after 6 months of dating, we flew to Fort Wayne, Indiana to buy an English bulldog named Rosie. She is by far our most loved and cherished possession. She is probably the most spoiled dog in the world… honestly. Rosie will be sharing the role of flower girl with Kjellby’s niece. Our ring bearers will be Lou, who is my in-law’s bulldog, as well as my and Kjellby’s nephews. So in total… there will be 4 Bulldogs at the wedding.
What do you like to do together and separately?
A typical day for us usually revolves around our little Rosie. We love taking her for walks, or taking her to the dog park and cuddling with her as much as she will allow.
Kjellby is by far THE hardest worker I know. He loves to make things and fix things, and break things, so he can fix them again. When you can’t find him in the backyard, garage, or Home-Depot, you can be sure to be found him cuddled up with Rosie on the couch watching hockey.
Tell us about your proposal..
We love spending time in the mountains, which is why I am certain Kjellby chose to propose to me in Banff.
The morning of June 10th, it was cold, miserable, and raining, but Kjellby was determined to propose to me that day. We went to Banff with a couple of friends for the day and took the gondola up to Sulfur Mountain (the original plan was to hike, but it was snowing). We walked out to the lookout at the top of the mountain, where he confessed his unconditional love for me, and got down on one knee, and popped the question; and of course, I said yes 🙂 We drank champagne, took some photos, and then ran to shelter. It was so cold. You have no idea. We were all freezing. You would never believe looking at our photos, that we got engaged in June. It looked like the photos were taken in the middle of January.
What do you feel be most meaningful part of the wedding day?
I think definitely the most meaningful part of our big day will be the ceremony. I imagine I will be in tears throughout the entire thing. Next, I would say perhaps the first dance. I think we are both really looking forward to that first song together, which will give us a second to really soak it all up.Our families are both really fun, and loud, and vibrant. So I am anticipating lots of dancing, partying, laughter and tears.
And… bulldogs, can’t forget the dogs.
